1. Summary

Face Detective finds faces in photos and in the live camera view and shows readings such as an apparent age, expression, face shape, proportions and symmetry. All of this is done on your device with Apple's Vision framework and a small model bundled inside the app. Photos, camera frames and face data are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. We have no account system and no server that receives your photos or face data.

2. Face data

2.1 What face data the app uses

When you choose a photo, take a photo, or open the Live camera, the app uses Apple's Vision framework on your device to detect:

• the position and size of each face (a bounding box) and head pose (tilt and turn);
• face landmarks: up to 76 points outlining the eyes, eyebrows, nose, lips and jaw.

From these the app calculates, on your device: an apparent-age estimate, smile and eye-openness readings, face shape, proportions and a symmetry score. The app does not create face templates, face prints or any biometric identifier, and it does not recognize or identify who a person is. It does not use Face ID or the TrueDepth camera's depth data.

2.2 How face data is used

Face data is used only to draw the boxes, landmarks and readings on screen, to make the shareable "age card", and to blur, pixelate or cover faces when you use the privacy tools. It is not used for advertising, tracking, profiling, identification, authentication, age verification, or to train any model.

2.3 Sharing of face data

Face data is not shared with any third party, including our advertising provider (Google AdMob), and is never sent off your device by the app. The only way a photo or result leaves your device is when you yourself tap Share or Save; the image then goes only where you choose (for example your Photos library or a messaging app).

2.4 Storage and retention of face data

• Live camera: frames are analyzed in memory and discarded immediately. Nothing is recorded or saved.
• Photos you scan: landmarks and readings are kept in memory only while the result is on screen and are discarded when you leave it.
• Case Files: if you tap Save to file a case, the app stores the photo, a small thumbnail with face boxes, and a short summary (date, number of faces, a headline such as an apparent age, and scene tags) in the app's private storage on your device. Face landmarks and measurements are not stored; they are recalculated when you open the case.

Saved Case Files are kept on your device until you delete them. Face data is not kept anywhere else, so no other retention period applies.

2.5 Deleting face data

Delete a single case in the Case Files tab, or delete the app to remove all of its data. Because we hold no copy, there is nothing for us to delete on a server.

3. Camera and photos

• Camera access is used to show the Live view and to take a photo to analyze.
• Photos you choose are opened through the system photo picker; the app sees only the photos you pick.
• Add-only Photos access is requested only when you tap Save to put an image into your library.

4. Advertising

Face Detective is free and shows ads from Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as the advertising ID), approximate location derived from IP address, ad interactions, and diagnostic data to show and measure ads and to prevent fraud. AdMob receives no photos, camera frames or face data. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland you are asked for consent through Google's consent form, and you can change your choice in About → Ad privacy choices. Ads are personalised only if you allow tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt; you can change this in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. 5. What we do not collect

• We do not collect photos, camera images or face data on any server.
• We do not collect your name, email, contacts, location or payment information.
• We do not sell personal information.

6. Children

Face Detective is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

7. Apparent age

The age shown is how old a face looks to the model, for entertainment. It is not anyone's real age and is not used for age verification. The model was trained on the FairFace dataset (CC BY 4.0).
